Camp Fern Legacy is your summer home away from home. It’s a place where kids bloom into confident, grounded young men and women—and where staff come to do the same.
Working at Fern is about more than a paycheck, it’s about leading, mentoring, creating, and belonging.Throughout the summer, you’ll spend your time outside, build real skills, real relationships, and real momentum for your next steps. At Camp Fern Legacy, we believe in putting God first, others second, and yourself last—not just as our motto, but as a way of life. If you’re looking for a summer where you can be yourself, grow in community, have a lot of fun, and walk away changed for the better, you’ve found your place.
At Camp Fern Legacy, it’s not all professional development (even though you’ll get plenty of that). It’s late nights laughing with your cabin, early mornings on the lake, inside jokes that last forever, and friendships that feel like family.Whether your role is in a cabin, leading activities, in the dining hall, or caring for our grounds, all Camp Fern Legacy staff complete required on-site job training, pass a background check, and participate in sexual abuse and misconduct prevention training.
Never a moment to spare, we believe that the busier campers are, the happier they will be. A day at Camp Fern Legacy is full of varied and interesting happenings.
After dinner, the whole camp gathers at the Council Ring where the Cabin of the Day leads Vespers—a quiet moment to reflect, sing, and connect. Then it’s time for evening activities, full of fun and sometimes competition, wrapping up around 8:30 PM. Campers recharge with our tradition of Chocolate Milk, before heading back to their cabins to shower and wind down. Lights out comes at 9:30 PM for the Junior Line and 10:30 PM for the Senior Line, closing an unforgettable day at Fern.
Spending my summers growing up at camp, I was able to build friendships, learn new skills and make memories that will be with me forever. So much of my experience was thanks to the amazing counselors who worked hard each summer to make sure we were safe and having fun. My time as a counselor was one of the most rewarding experiences of my life. I was able to teach classes ranging from the waterfront to the ropes course and even took on more involved leadership roles. Working as a counselor helped me improve my communication and problem-solving skills and gave me so many more that will benefit me in any career. In giving back to the camp that helped define me, I not only helped create meaningful experiences for the campers but also saw the experience impact me in return.

Do what you love, and you’ll never work a day in your life.” The only job I’ve ever had where this was fully true for me was working as a Camp Fern Legacy counselor. The longest, hottest, hardest days always just felt like hanging out with my friends, playing with horses, and helping children to learn and grow. Come spend a summer and see for yourself. You won’t regret it, and you’ll never find another job quite like it anywhere else.
