Talk About What to Expect:

A few weeks before camp, start conversations about the daily schedule, cabin life, activities, and how much fun they’ll have. Let them know it’s normal to feel a mix of excitement and nervousness.

Practice Independence:

Help your camper practice skills like making their bed, organizing belongings, and managing personal hygiene on their own.

Stay Positive:

Your confidence helps build theirs. Focus on the adventures ahead rather than the time apart.

OK the Feelings; Homesickness is Normal:

If your camper mentions feeling homesick before leaving, reassure them that many campers feel this way — and that our counselors are trained to help them through it.
